Mendoza is the region that is best known and both Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec wine play large roles in the success of Argentinian wine. Quite a few wineries in Chile were founded by large French wine companies. Seeing the potential of the country, vineyards were bought and planted by these French. 2011 Zorzal

"It has a wonderful bouquet with blackberry, tomato vine and granitic notes. It has what you might call a “naked” nose disrobed of oak, but it is very pure and vibrant. The palate is fresh and vibrant embroidered with brisk, fine tannins. It is suffused with lively pure black cherry and bilberry fruit and a taut, citric, dry finish. You would never guess this is from Argentina, and it is just downright, unapologetically delicious."
