2007 Selvapiana
The 2007 Selvapiana Chianti Rufina Riserva Bucerchiale is good, full ruby-red. Intense aromas of red cherry, raspberry and marzipan display captivating purity. Enters sweet and superripe, offering creamy flavors of ripe red cherry and raspberry jam. Finishes with excellent length and a lingering raspberry liqueur note, but the tannins turn quite austere at the back. This wine merits 95 points on the strength of its nose alone, but on the palate it's a little drying. Perhaps I caught it at an awkward stage and another year or so in the cellar will bring more harmony.
